I am the founder of Beacon Financial Planners, Inc., a venture I embarked upon after spending 17 years in the broker/dealer (B/D) world. My journey in the financial sector began as an intern at a large B/D during my college years, where I discovered the immense value of collaborating with an expert advisor to guide clients through their financial journeys. This experience laid the foundation for my career, emphasizing the importance of expert collaboration in financial planning.
After graduating from Austin College with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, I joined a large Mutual Insurance company. There, I learned that establishing a solid risk management strategy is the cornerstone of any sustainable financial plan. This knowledge propelled me forward as I sought to focus on holistic financial planning. My path led me to an independent B/D, where my mentor encouraged me to enhance my expertise by becoming a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® through the CFP® Certificate program at Southern Methodist University.
Continuing my professional development, I became a Chartered Financial Consultant, ChFC®, and a Retirement Income Certified Professional, RICP®, through the American College of Financial Services. I also earned my Master of Business Administration in Financial Planning from California Lutheran University. With over 24 years of experience, I specialize in risk management, wealth accumulation, and wealth preservation and distribution. I consider myself an expert in retirement income and take great joy in providing my clients with peace of mind regarding their financial situations. Through education, I empower my clients to make well-informed decisions about their financial plans.
Beyond my work with Beacon Financial Planners, I am an adjunct professor at the American College of Financial Services, where I have the privilege of educating thousands of financial professionals annually. In my free time, I relish spending time outdoors with my family, often grilling and swimming or building sandcastles at the beach. My special interests include scuba diving, golfing, snow skiing, reading, Tae Kwon Do, and Orange Theory. These activities bring balance to my life and fuel my passion for both personal and professional growth.
